Sony BDP S370

Among the new line of blu-ray players for 2010 is the recently announced Sony BDP S370 Blu-ray player. The Sony S370 supports online media streaming from Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube and over 25 providers through the Sony BRAVIA Internet Video platform. It will also have full HD 1080p picture quality, BD-LIVE functionality and a unique iPhone/iPod touch BD Remote Control application.

The Sony BDP S370 features Sony’s new Monolithic Design Concept. The front panel is finished in glossy black giving it a high tech finish. Connectivity options are basic but adequate. Outputs on the back panel include a HDMI, component video, composite video, optical digital audio out, coaxial digital audio out, 2 channels analog audio, a USB and an Ethernet port.
There is also a USB socket on the front for convenient viewing of your digital photos and direct playback of MP3 music. There are no analog 7.1 audio outputs provided. You will need to own a receiver with HDMI inputs to decode the latest audio codecs on the blu-ray disc.

The Sony Blu-Ray upscales standard resolutions to 1080p image quality during streaming video or while playing standard DVDs. Online functionality is also included, although a wireless adapter must be purchased separately in order to play videos directly from the internet without the use of a computer. In addition, the player features an Entertainment Database Browser. Using Gracenote technologies metadata service, you will be able to instantly access detailed information about the movies you are watching.
Audiophiles will rejoice as all the new Sony blu-ray players including this entry level model will play the superior sounding SACD. Sony BDP S370 also comes with audio decoding for the latest high bitrate audio codecs like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
Unique to all new Sony BD players, users with an iPhone® or iPod® touch device can control the players using a free app called “BD Remote” that can be downloaded from the Apple App store. The app allows an iPhone or iPod touch device to function as a remote control that includes the ability to access a Blu-ray Disc’s details such as jacket artwork, actor, and production information as well as search for additional video clips online.
